Lamoine State Park

Tuesday, June 4, Day 43

As you can see, I've broken this day up into segments.  We  left Boothbay, ate at Red's Eats, went toward Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor .

We passed through Camden, Maine, We've all heard of Camden, right?  And thought it was a city?  In fact, the population is 4,850.  It about triples in size during the summer, and is known as a resort for the rich and famous.   This is about the whole town in this picture. I'm sure in the summer there is the classic sailboats, windjammers, lobster boats and yachts.  It's a little early in the season right now to see it in its full glory.

Edna St. Vincent Millay is from here.

We are seeing lots of fields that dip down to the waters edge.  It really is beautiful.

And we arrive at Lamoine State Park.  We will have to cross a bridge tomorrow and go further south to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.  But it is time to stop for the night!

For once we are getting into a camp site early enough to set up and enjoy the long evening sun.  This is the view from my window, through the birch trees to the water.

The water is calm, with sailboats bobbing at their moorings.  The beach is rocky and there is seaweed along the shore.

John stood on a long sea wall he said was made out of granite rejects for those buoys we saw being reset.

This is the "beach". John says they have marked it by lining up picnic tables, signifying this is the beach.  It would be hard to sunbathe here, but it is definitely pretty.

Nearby, there is a trailer full of lobster traps waiting to be set.  When you look out into the water all along these areas,  you can see miles and miles of these colorful buoys marking the  location of the traps.
