Monday, July 8, Day 77 Cont'd
It's only 20 miles from Spokane to the Idaho border.
We had planned to take more time in Couer d'Alene, but alas, the rain has started. We made a quick stop at the visitor's center before it started to pour.
And then, all of a sudden, HAIL! There's virtually no visibility.
We pulled off the road looking for an overhang to wait it out. But we found none. We sat by some
spruce trees, where the hail was lodging in the branches.
The temperature dropped from 83 degrees to 53 in no time.
There was an accumulation of hailstones on the ground as we pulled out to get back on the highway.
So it's good-bye, Lake Couer d'Alene. Maybe next time ... it really is a lovely spot.
We cross the Couer d'Alene River, full to overflowing.
A mixed bag of clouds as we cross the 43 miles of the Idaho Panhandle.
We are into Montana in no time.
