Welcome to Arab, Alabama!
Of course, the one and only question is: How did it get its name?
It was an unintentional misspelling by the US Postal Service
in 1882 of the city’s intended name, Arad, the son of the town founder and the
FIRST POSTMASTER, Stephen Tuttle
Thompson.
I'm sure some clerk caught what they thought was a misspelling: who names their kid ARAD, anyway?
And why couldn't the father, who, after all was the postmaster, get it changed?
