Sunday on the Farm

Sunday, May 26, Day 34

We are spending Sunday on the farm.  BJ brings his three dogs.  Janey also arrived.  The day's big project is to mow the lawn.  And we aren't talking a San Diego style lawn,  we're talking more than an acre.

First we went to breakfast at the Valley Cafe.  By now, we are quite accustomed to ordering these huge breakfasts, and John get's his scrapple once again.  Here we are with BJ, Jane, John and Bill.

Back at the ranch, the process begins with getting the tractor started.  John and BJ discuss it after BJ has crawled under the tractor to remove a hugh vine.  Bill figured it would just turn to mulch the last time he mowed, but it didn't, becoming entangled around the blades.  John's task is now to go through the grass and remove other such vines before the same thing happens again.

Here's Bill adjusting the attachment that will cut the grass.

Finally, it takes three to get things going.

In the meantime, Jane become the resident dog sitter, keeping them from running around in front of the tractor, etc.

And the process begins, with BJ on one device, Bill on the other.

Progress?

In the evening,  our relatives Eileen and Roy Humphreys arrive for dinner.  We were hopeful we would see them, and Bill thought ahead to invite them out to the Farm.

We are all content to watch the boys work on cutting the yard, while we catch up on what's happening with the Humphreys and their two little grandchildren.

BJ brought the ingredients to make stuffed jalapenos, and he gets to work in the kitchen.  Janey had cleaned them without benefit of gloves, and she is in the other room suffering from the burning sensation under her fingernails and on her lips .  BJ cooks sausage, combines it with cream cheese for the stuffing, and wraps is all in bacon.  How can you go wrong?

John cooked a big london broil out on the grill.  We had mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, stuffed jalapenos, london broil and rolls.  Wow!  Can't beat that after a hard day's work.
